Michael offers a number of services, including researching and composing complex motions, responses, and briefs, serving as embedded appellate counsel, and conducting appeals in both civil and criminal cases.
Michael Smyth is an attorney and joined Jones Law Office in January 2025. After winning the Sherman Minton Moot Court Championship at the Indiana University, Bloomington (Maurer) School of Law, he argued his first case in the Indiana Supreme Court as a second-year law student, securing a per curiam, 5-0 decision in a post-conviction relief case. He then served as a judicial law clerk at the Indiana Court of Appeals for three years for both the Honorable Elizabeth F. Tavitas and the Honorable Peter R. Foley. He then taught legal research and writing and trial practice at the Indiana University, Indianapolis (McKinney) School of Law and is now in private practice, where he is of counsel at Jones Law Office LLC.
